YES...when I was in labor with my second child, I got out of bed early that morning thinking I had to take a really big crap and right after I sat on the toilet, the contractions came really hard one after the other...so it was not a beany but a baby after all!
P.S. she was born a few minutes after the ambulance dropped me off at the hospital in Crete! I didn't even know it was labor until I sat on the toilet that morning.

Rachel, the baby's head is so big that it does indeed put pressure on the rectum and make you feel like you are going to have a bowel movement. Do your research before answering if you don't know what you're talking about, dear.

P..S. Obstipation is an extreme form of constipation that can feel very much like having a baby, by the way. It's when you literally have to s*h*t a brick. Unfortunately, the rectum will NOT stretch the way the vagina will during childbirth, and there is no doctor there to perform an episiotomy. Therefore, you WILL experience extreme pain if this ever happens to you. It happens to people who have certain disorders of the intestinal tract.

as the baby's head enters the birth canal it does put a lot of pressure on the rectum - but it feels a hell of a lot worse than having a big crap. nothing compares to that kinda pain.
wisegal, wisen up before making snotty comments.

None of the pains the body usually has on the regular basis, for what ever reason, can compare to giving birth.

A lot of women say that. I don't think so, because the pressure you feel is in a completely different place. It's in your vaginal opening.
