Ok... My ex was married, and he was behind on child support.
so the IRS has taken his income tax check and is holding it. They sent it to the child support office and they said, they have to hold it for a max of 6 months incase the person he filed with ( wife ) wants to contest it. She has called childsupport and stated she is not contesting it, and they still won't release it. I've even called the child support division in Virginia, where this all originates. I need the money now, so I don't understand if the rule is to hold it for 6 months incase she contests it, and she's not contesting it, why they won't release the funds to me. It's very irritating. Anyone know what the next step should be?

By the way, the withholding on his tax refund is called a 'Tax offset" and I've looked everywhere on the web. I don't know who to contact to get this rule revoked since she's not contesting.
