25 feet
I divided the known length of a shadow by the known height
20 divided by 4 = 5 5 being the length of shadow per foot of height
Then divide the 125 foot shadow by 5 and you get the unknown height, which is 25 feet.

625. If a 4ft pole casts a 20 ft shadow, then you would divide 20 by 4, which gives you 5. You then multiply 125 by 5, thus giving you
625. Easy.

This is an example of similar triangles. Similar triangles are the same shape, but a different size. This means that every side is a constant ratio to the same side in the similar triangle.
In this example, we have two right angled triangles. As both measurements are taken at the same time of day, the angle of the sun will be the same, which confirms that they are similar triangles.
Compare the two lengths of the shadows, the shadow from the tower is 6.25 times as long as the shadow from the pole. This means that the towers, triangle is the pole's triangle enlarged by a factor of 6.25. Thus the height of the tower is the height of the pole times 6.25, or 25 feet.

This is a proportion problem involving similar triangles. Similar tringles are the same shape, but not the same size.
Two right angle triangles has the same shape, but one triangle larger than the other.
4/x = 20/125
20x is the means
4 X 125 is the extremes
Multiply the means and the extremes
20 x = 500
20x/20 = 500/20
divide 20 from both sides
x = 25
The answer is x = 25
The solution set is {25}
The height of the pole is 25 feet

The tower is 25 feet tall.
If a 4 ft pole is casting 5 times its shadow at that time
than the height of tower
125/5 = 25

x/125 = 4/20 i believe would be the right way of getting there by using cross multiplication. I believe it would work like this 125x4= 500. 500/20=25. so the tower should be 25 feet tall.

Times 5. Look, 5 times 4 is 20, therefore we multiply 125 times 5 as well. I thought you were guy messing around but I seen you were a girl and I know my wife has trouble with this stuff too. Though, she may be acting the classic blonde; all 'oh help me' as she wiggles.

2 triangles... x/125 = 4/20
x = (125 * 4) / 20
= 25 ft
the triangles are similar
