what is your position about xenotransplantation? do you agree or not? i have this project to do about that. and i would like to have as many responses ( worth ones) as possible. do you think it is worth it to try those new experiments? or do you think it is just a waste of time and life cause the benefit seems less than the risks and uncertainty in all this?

Xenotransplantation is the transplantation of organs, tissues or cells between different animal species, including humans.

There is a worldwide shortage of organs for clinical transplantation and, sadly, many patients due to receive new organs die on the waiting list. Recent advances in understanding the mechanisms of transplant organ rejection have brought us to a stage where it is reasonable to consider that organs from other species, probably pigs, may soon be engineered to minimize the risk of serious rejection and used as an alternative to human tissues, possibly ending organ shortages. Other procedures, some of which are being investigated in early clinical trials, aim to use cells or tissues from other species to treat life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, AIDS, diabetes, liver failure and Parkinson's disease.

End-stage organ failure is one of the most important public health problems facing the industrialized world today. However, xenotransplantation raises many novel medical, legal and ethical issues. Medical concerns partly center on organ rejection, but also include the possible risk of infection. Organisms in host animals may be transferrable to humans and cross over of disease from species to species will therefore be a risk. The effects of xenotransplantation on the human gene pool and possible long-term genetic problems offer a note of caution. Equally, any permanent alteration to the genetic code of animals is a cause for concern.

Xenotransplantation is the transplantation of cells, tissues or organs from one species to another such as from pigs to humans. Such cells, tissues or organs are called xenografts (xenotransplants). The terms heterograft and heterotransplant are also sometimes used, while the term homograft refers to a same-species transplant.

sure, LadySuri is genuinely best. In Judaism, as a fashion to maintain a existence we are **required** to interrupt all the commandments, with the exception of three adverse ones: homicide, idolatry and sexual immorality. thus, using the valve from a pigs' heart--or drugs derived from pigs--isn't an argument if there is not any different option.
