Everytime you switch on TV a child has been killed or kids are stabbing each other, yes i would say its got worse and the teachers who try there best are powerless to do anything because the parents of bullying children have no interest no intellect, no time to do anything but get drunk and sue the teacher for abuse, these children are our next robbers muggers , possibly killers so nip in the bud now and give the teachers the power to stop these thugs

In some aspects bullying isnt as bad, ie racism in schools. The kids at school are becoming more accepting of other races now. However there are other reasons why people are getting bullied...and yes I do think that it needs to stop, it's one of the worst things that can happen to a child. If I had the power I would stop it and I'd also punish those bulies too!

Bullying has not gotten worse. It is just the fact that the parents have gotten overprotective. If they see any remotely hurting their children or their feelings they will call it bullying. Bullying before was handled by the kids, if a bully is hurting your son, let your son take care of it, fight him. Now bullying is handled by the adults, if a bully is hurting your son, go to him and yell at the teacher for letting it happen then yell at the bully, then yell at the parents and the principal and sue them for emotional drama.
And most of the kids now a days are learning from tv, video games and adults, that guns will solve their problems. That is why everyone believes bullying has gotten worse because of all the guns. Before people didn't even think of bringing a gun to school because some kid was bullying them. Now from the media and teachings they see guns as a quick problem solver.

I think it has got worse. Kids are under more pressure than ever to have the right clothing, the right mobile phone, right MP3 player and so forth. I think that some schools also don't want to see that bullying exists in their schools.
It's how it is managed by schools and parents that is the answer. Parents as well as well as teachers/governors must recognise if they are told their child is a bully. Also to be fair, bullying doesn't just exist amongst the children themselves, I know of a child whom felt bullied by one of his teachers! Thankfully this particular child spoke up and the matter was dealt with promptly. The teacher has been great with him since.
If a child says he/she is being bullied it must always be taken seriously.

Bullys, whether boys or girls suffer very low self-esteem...and...they themselves have been bullied.
the best way to combat bullying in schools is for the administration to take a zero tolerance stance against it.
Children need to learn how to talk to a bully as well as how to report bully behavior.
Lastly...the old school rule that parents are responsible for children before school until the child is in first class...and the principal is responsible for the child to get home safely.
parents should rotate turns on busses where bullying is prevalent...and not up front chatting up the driver...in the back where the trouble is.

i see bullying all the time as a dinner lady, and that's a first shool with less than 40 kids! the bullies get more and more clever, so you don't even know it's happening right in front of your eyes. I'd make the parents of these bullies go on a parenting course as it's all about home life usually

If I had the power, I would work on isolating the bulies - each alone, not in groups - and encouraging observed improvement in behaviour. Whatever other punishment is made, a bully would try to transfer it done.
It would require very close and attentive observation of the children, though.

I would embarrass the bully's by making them have to do menial tasks in front of the whole school, e.g. washing lunch hall floor with toothbrush or making them wear a dunce hat all day.
I think the prospect of being continuously laughed at by their peers would stop the bullying!!

yes I think so, cus now they got TV and video games, that actually give them inspiration how to torture another person, and if i would have the power to stop it i would, and also kids know how to do it secretly, so its more difficult to detect the bullying,, i think that the bullies should be homeschooled.. cus even touh the teachers are watchin the students, the bullies just have to give a sertain look, that tells the person that he or she is dead after school!!!
