Not all wars are about religion.
The 2 world wars were not about religion. Neither was the Vietnam War. In fact there's a sizeable list of different wars that were not about religion.
Religion is often used to garner support for a war that is caused by some other things - power, politics, money, resources, trade, territory, nationalism. But that does not mean a war is religious just because someone is beating on the religion drum to get people to fight his war to enlarge his territory.
Fair enough, there are religious aspects of wars. But considering war deals with life and death, you'd expect there to be some religious aspects of it. But not all wars are about religion.

refering to the current affairs the middle east is a special case. Before WW1 had even finished the British and French had divided up the Middle East between them using a simple ruler and pencil (sykes-picot agreement look it up) Hence why they all have streight edged borders. they did not take into account cultural differences such as religion, language, race etc. this has caused many problems as all the different groups want a peice of the power which is fair enough. The British also decided it would be a good idea to start moving the jews in (Balfour declaration). this would obviously upset you if you already lived there. religion is just something for the diferent factions to identify with as we would with our nation. War is always fought over land or resources and who controls them.

Well, not all wars are about religion, but religion has played a part in many confrontations. One reason we fought the American Revolution was so we could enjoy freedom of religion. Politicians have used the emotions stirred up by religion to their advantage. Example: to distract us from the evils of an unjustifiable 'war', Bush pushes people's button by opposing gay marriages, which conflicts with Christianity.
I believe we all have a spiritual dimension within us. I believe organized religion is just another big business. -RKO-

Was the civil war religious?
Spanish - American War?
the French - Native American wars?
World Wars one and two?
Korea?
Indo-China?
Viet Nam?
just because most heinous terrorists happen to be Islamic Arabs...does not mean that the Global War on Terrorism is a religious war.
Nor does it mean Islam is a bad religion...nor Arabs bad people...just means that theres a fanatical fringe out there that happens to be one race...and one religion.
...says alot about your knowledge of "all wars", eh?

Omm...world war I religious? world war II religious? Vietnam war religious? Korean war religious? Wars of ancient greece religious? Wars and battles of the roman empire religious?
This was a dumb question with very little thought put into it. Just a chance someone thought to bash people who have a religion.

Not all wars are about religion. And even those that sometimes appaear to be about religion usually have other motivations -- nearly always ecomonic.
Just because someone, say a President of the United States, says that "God is on our side," that doesn't mean that the war is "about" religion. Politicians are, after all, professional liars.

Quite a number of wars over the years have been about territory and natural resources... The Gulf War was probably more about oil than religion or terrorism!!!

Not all wars are religious. Sometimes leaders just hide behind the name of religion, maybe they think if they say they're fighting for their god it sounds better than i'm greedy and want to take over your country!
