The international definition of the term 'genocide' includes the forcible eviction of masses of people from the homes and land. Genocide encompasses more than just mass exterminations. Certainly the expansion of the American West involved a great deal of this. Times were different then, and the greater consideration was the concept of Manifest Destiny, and unfortunately the American indians got in the way.
The Spanish also engaged in mass slaughter in Mexico and South America.
A great many books have been written on this subject, including "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" Do a search on www.bn.com and you will find enough to keep you busy for the rest of your life.

It's quite simple actually...From the 15th to 19th century, the European started to colonize the Americas, most of them in search of gold....When they went there they slaughtered the Native Americans (the Indians) in the full sense of the word "slaughter". The Europeans occupied their land and they also brought diseases to the Natives, like chicken pox and measles, and the the indigenous peoples had no immunity to them. So, epidemics have spread.... As you can imagine the indigenous couldn't defend themselves. Their weapons were bows, while the Europeans used guns...To me, its the biggest genocide in world history...

Next time you hear it ask the speaker to tell you what they mean.
One possibility is they are talking about history and how the native Americans were treated by the people moving in and taking over. Another possibility is that they are talking about the proud Apache's who will only mate with another Apache and as a consequence are becoming too inbred.

Well basically the British and later Americans (ie whitey)destroyed a vast number of Native Americans over a few short centuries, as compared to the Spanish who interbred with them and French who traded with them. We shot, stabbed, executed, infected, poisoned, instigated inter-tribal shooting, stabbing, executions, infections and poisonings... until we could "safely" claim the entire continent for ourselves.
