Its the colour of cowardice,
When a coward was asked to fight or something
They ran so fast you could not see them for dust
So when a cloth was specifically made to get rid of dust,
They used the colour of the coward for it

As stated above its so you can actually see whether you are actually picking up dust, but its also there just as an aesthetic, as they come in a variety of different colours.
