What shipping service did you use?(USPS,UPS?)
Did you figure shipping costs ahead of time?
I just sold my first item on e-bay,but I didn't figure shipping costs ahead of time and then when I went to ship it,it costs me alot more than I thought.

Any tips on selling on e-bay?

The different shipping companies have postage calculators on their web sites, this is a good way to determine how much you should charge. Ebay also allows you to use these postage calculators in your auction, so that the high bidder gets charged the actual shipping charges based on the weight of the package, the length, width and height of the package, which shipping method you are using, how much insurance you are putting on the package and if you add any extras like signature confirmation.

Personally, I ship everything I sell on Ebay by USPS Priority Mail, delivery confirmed and insured for the amount of the auction. I generally charge a flat fee, which I determine by using the USPS postage calculator and using Los Angeles as my delivery address...all the way across the country, to cover my bases.

I bought a scale off Ebay for shipping and then used USPS and based my shipping prices on the rate that was given according to my package.

Be sure that you weigh it in the packaging you plan to use and with any bubble wrap, tissue paper, etc, or you will be stuck with a slightly higher bill..

This is all if you use ACTUAL shipping, which I found sold better However, you can charge a flat rate shipping of whatever you desire, or ship everything USPS Priority etc. A lot of buyers enjoy that also.

Good luck!

Hey. I too didn't estimate the shipping costs when selling on ebay. I sold a car radio system - an electronic gadget - and I ended up paying 10 times more than the shipping cots that I had put on the e-bay deal.

Gotta do your homework definitely.

Hi there,

I've sold lots of stuff on Ebay. You need to get a scale to weigh your item once it's packed up, and choose "calculate shipping". You can't go wrong that way. I use the US Post Office Priority Mail
