Whose financial situation is good? Let him give you a gift if he chooses. It may make him feel better. Except it with grace. Be happy that you have someone who cares for you.

Yes. Not accepting a gift from him will conjure feelings of incapability and shame. If his situation is dire, and he asks for the gift back, then give it back. But I think this is a case of a guy, whose situation may not be the best sacrificing for you. I think you should accept it with gratitude and grace.
