The oldest remaining civilization would have to be the aboriginal people of Australia. A close second is the Egyptian people but they are a lot different than their ancestors. Native Americans are still around but they don't live the way their forefathers did either. Now once you get into South America some of the Amazon tribes live pretty much as they always have but there again, you have to give it up to the aboriginals. Remember, Americans had to get here somehow and the most distant theories say about 15,000 years ago which pales in comparison when you consider that Australia may have been colonized as early as 100,000 years ago or more.

There has been a lot of speculation on this as to wether who is the oldest civilisation on earth. It is based around several different races firstly known to us all as the Egyptians, but also in the fold are the mayans, aztecs and toltecs. Either one of these could be the oldest civilisation on earth. But to break it down in a more simpler form I would have to say early Homo Sapiens (Cavemen) Would be the oldest civilisation as these early humans spawned the creation of mankind. There may be even a race of people we never even new that were wiped out by a number of earth like natural disasters.

Define civilization: socially organised hunters? big brain pre-humans? the first humans with laws? or with huge buildings? Anyway, I do not know the answer. My guess is that we will never know (perhaps they were too busy having fun to think of leaving a mark to future generations).

i think its a debated topic. but i did hear a theory we all originated from Africa.

If your interested, you should read 'The Atlantis Blueprint' by Rand Flem-Ath et al. Its all about a theory that there was once a very advanced civilisation much further back than we ever guessed, he links it with the legend of atlantis. Its an interesting read
