As the saying goes u teach a man 2 fish 4 lyf instead of giving him fish 4 a day..Cross multiplication means you multiply the denominator(bottom term)of the fraction on ur RHS(right hand side) with the numerator(top no.) of the fraction on ur LHS(left hand side) and vice versa so:
2*5 = x*11
Logically explaining, when u multiply one side uve gotta do the same for the other or else the equation will sue u for prejudice.
So to get rid of the denominators on both sides of the original eqn ud have to multiply both sides by x and 5;
2/x*x*5 = 11/5*5*x
where on the RHS 5 gets cancelled and the LHS x gets cut.
leaves u wit: 2*5 = 11*x
10 = 11x
so divide both sides by 11 to give a solitary x on LHS
10/11 = x
Voila!
Please tell me I'm not a sucker and u didn't know this b4 and I jez might get 10 points for listening in Grade 3 math class.

do a cross multiplication:
2/x = 11/5 turns into 2 times 5 = 11 times x
so 10 = 11x
and therefore x = 10/11

The original equation:
2 / x = 11 / 5
Multiply both sides by 5:
10 / x = 11
Multiply both sides by x:
10 = 11x
Divide both sides by 11:
10 / 11 = x
x = 10/11

Ur question can be written as
2 11
-- = --
x 5
Can be written as:
2 * 5 = 11 * x
10 = 11x
10
---- = x
11
So, x = 10/11
i think, u can understand this simple question now.
