Use to play with Cuba long long long time ago, than there is also Japan and also Canada. So there could be another reason we don't have everyone here playing ball. Before we have the world series you have regular games all season long. So how many countries are willing to travel all around the world to play ball with all the teams..

That's what it's been called since it was inaugurated, and there are no plans to change the name to suit pendants. There was never any intention to slight any other countries, people just didn't worry about such stuff in 1903. It shouldn't be taken any more seriously than Barnum and Bailey's circus being, "The Greatest Show on Earth". It was just how they tried to promote the then newish sport of professional baseball. The best ballplayers from all over the world are now in MLB, so maybe it really is the World Series.

Age old question....why does America not play well with others?

But, I think it's just a name which was given to the series, without any real thought to the connotations. Miss Universe, anyone? How does that differ to Miss World? Talking about the names here, I mean...last time I checked, there were no entries from Mars or Venus or outside the Milky Way in the Miss Universe pageant...

Sometimes names are just that. Names.
