I'm asking because I believe I met my soul mate 11 years ago. We have moved on, he has married since and we still feel a deep connection and I often have dreams of him that are very true.

This connection is very very deep as is the rich friendship still..my question is that is there certain instances in life (such as this) where you never marry your soul mate; but remain close to him throughout his life?

Thanks

No. If they do, then why hasn't your soul mate married you. Or if it happens why do soul mates get divorced after marriage. I believe there is not such "soul mate", but there is infatuation on different degrees or scales that can be supported by availability and (inavailability) of the other.
And your case continues now because it is not controlled by any commitment where you can find yourselves tied together to a degree of suffocation where you both seek some sort of release with another mate without commitment, and so on. It is a vicious circle, isn't it?

You maybe right to a great extent. There are cases known to me but very rare that one do feel too close to their soul mate though not married to him/her, and with their own spouse, there is a certain degree of casualness, soul mates are ones with whom one wants to share everything and feels the same way even their own spouse cannot feel or share. I will say if there is such a case, then the soul-mate couples are the luckiest in this materialistic world.

they generally dont marry with soul mate because of they expect something else from a marriage but if they meet by chance with their soul mates after get married this would make unhappy them.

you must be young as that is all a romantic fantasy thinking there is ONE person out there meant for you . bottom line is this. Age will show you that believe it or not you are capable of loving ANYONE.. there is no single person out there for you nor a "soul" . people like to sit and think maybe i missed my one true love. not true in the least. again. you have the capacity to love ANYONE.. period. so you may want to just learn to get past the fantasy. sorry to burst your bubble. everyone has good and bad points in them. you woudl be surprised maybe to find how MANY people you have so much in common with.

Maybe before people marry their soul mate but now people get marry in different reasons. Some people marry for true love and some get marry for money and security. But they have different reasons too. Lets just respect them cause we are just people and lets not judge them.

I'm sure people do, but I think people might marry someone that's not their soul mate, just because they've got a big bum, or something...
