If you are not used to it, it will be plenty. they should be taken 4 hours apart IF you need the next one. Do not drink alcohol, it causes bladder failure in conjuction with the xanax. You get sleepy and sloppy.
I took .25 for many years to manage anxiety.

Xanax is a good sedative for fear of flying because it is relatively fast acting. However, its effects do not last as long as those of some of the other similar medications, such as Valium.
It should clearly state on the bottle when you fill the prescription that you should take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours, or something similar. Those are the dosing instructions, and that will tell you how often you can take it safely. With an 8 hour flight, you may need to take one while you are on the flight. Just read the label on the bottle carefully, and take one as early as possible, while still obeying the instructions. For instance, if it says every 4 to 6 hours, take one at 4 hours, rather than at 5 or 6 hours. This will help keep the levels of the medication pretty stable in your blood so you can avoid acute anxiety and panic. Also, if the prescription says take 1 to 2 tablets, you can go ahead and take 2, but otherwise, don't take more than one. Your goal is to stick to the prescription directions while still controlling your fear.
I share your fear of flying, and I also have to take a sedative when I fly. I wish you the best of luck!

Depending on your bodweight, and anxiety level, 0.25 mg is a very small dose for me, and alot of people, but might be enough for you.
A 0.25 mg dose will last about 11/2-3 hours.
Do your normal dose, and if you feel fear on the plane, do another dose. (dont do more than 3-4) this will give you a 0.75-1mg dose, which is not alot.
Do not be afraid to overdose, (they have xanax that are called "Xanax Bars", for people, that are 2 mg, that is 8 pills of your prescribed dose.
Just be safe and only take as needed (no more than 3-4 pills)
You will be fine, planes are safe.
Good Luck.

Yes it will work. It is a small dose but if you don't use this sort of thing often then you have no tolerance to it. If you are still very concerned then ask the doctor but she/he should have told you how to take this and had the pharmacist put the directions on the label. If you bought these off the street then of course you won't have instructions so you have to do your own research. The usual dose is 1 tablet every 6 to 8 hours. And don't drink alcohol with this. And I am not kidding.
