The Sex Pistols:
EMI
Kickass song, kickass band. They aren't particularly musically talented, but punk is more about an attitude, which they've got. They say what they want, they do what they want, and f*** you if you don't like it. The song itself is against EMI- a record label- and all the conforming and bowing down to "the man" (not in those words) that comes with it.
The Clash
White Riot
Also, Straight to Hell - it doesn't have that really fast edgyness associated with punk, but the song- and it's message- are still great.
The Clash has an awesome variety of music. With some groups, you hear one song, you've heard 'em all. And of course, they have the ability to make the music itself reflect the message- which is what makes Straight to Hell so awesome- the whole thing has a sort of Asian style, so the message isn't just there in front of you, it's shoved right in your face.
The Adicts
England
(Or Viva La Revolution, but everyone knows that one)
The Adicts are different... which is cool. Plus they've been around forever, and you've gotta respect that.
Iggy Pop
I Wanna Be Your Dog
Gonna agree with the whole I Wanna Be Your Dog thing, cause Iggy Pop is one of the Gods of Punk.
The Ramones (Of course)
Psycho Therapy- their best song, in my opinion, although I Wanna Be Sedated is classic.
What am I gonna say about the Ramones? They're really strange... And why do they have so many songs that start with I Wanna? I Wanna Be Sedated, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend (my heart melts), I Wanna Sniff Some Glue (the hell?). But we like strange where I come from.
Ok. Long answer. Sorry 'bout that.
