As long as it doesn't completely cross your car, I guess it works :). A black cat ran across my car on the way to a party and a couple of hours later, there was a huge fight that ended up with someone pulling out a gun. Guess I should have ran over that cat :)

It will be bad luck if the cat's owner sees you run over his or her cat. The owner will either call 911 to report you to the cops or draw a MAC-11 machine pistol from his concealed shoulder harness and fire 30 9mm parabellum rounds in less than a second at your car. Hope the cat's owner doesn't hit your car's gas tank. Peace.

Make sure to hit it with the driver side tire if it is comming from the left. Hit it with the passager side if it is comming from the right. That way it never crosses.
