Most every team in baseball is looking for a good shortstop, one who can both field and hit...Too many teams are still in races, so there's not a lot of talent on the block..

I will agree that Russ Adams is bad, an RF of 4.28 and FLD% of .928 isn't going to cut it...

on the other hand John Mcdonald, isn't that bad! he doesn't hit a lick .220 but, his fielding is well above average over the past 2 years(I know he's a part timer) RF's of 5.06 and 5.09 along with FLD% of .977 and .974 . At least you don't have to worry about this guy kicking the ball all over the field..

If the Giants were out of the NL West race, Omar Vizquel might be available and he would be a great fit. I know Vizquel is 39, but he keeps himself in great shape. He doesn't have great range(news flash "he never did") but he does have great hands and makes ALL the plays that should be made. His RF of 4.43 is a little below average but FLD% of .992 is very impressive. he can still run the bases(14 SB) and he hits BA-298 and will take a walk OB%-376. Vizquel would make a great team leader and he's a big game player. Only problem here is, I don't think he's going to be available, the Giants are only 2.5 out, "IF" the Giants should lose 5-6 in a row things could change..I only mention this guy because he would make a super fit for Toronto..

The Pirates are out of it, but I still doubt that they would be willing to part with Jack Wilson..

A guy who is available and has a huge upside is Angel Berroa, with a little work with the right coach Berroa could make someone a very good SS. The guy has nice range and a cannon for an arm, his problem is he only shows up when he feels like it..BA-245(lowest of career) RF-4.57 FLD%-973 , positives- Berroa could be had cheap. Negatives-inconsistent

Adam Everett - I doub't he's available and he's a lot like Mcdonald so I'm not sure it would be worth the trouble...BA-220 RF-4.99 FLD%-.990

Julio Lugo - This guy may or may not be on the block - BA-303 RF-4.61 FLD%-963 . He would add a bat, but not a great deal in the field, He's an average(defense) ML SS

Not exactly a long list of possibilities...If the Blue Jays are willing to take a chance on the guy. Angel Berroa has a big upside, the guy is a talent. I'm not sure he's the immediate answer that would be Vizquel...

IF the Blue Jays were in genuine rivalry, Royce Clayton may be the smart bypass in accordance to fielding skills and universal veteran's journey. notwithstanding, the Jays are going nowhere this year and taking section in a veteran like Clayton in the direction of the top of his occupation does no longer help the way ahead for the crew. the only reason to play Clayton now's to help eek out a pair better wins and keep the govts activity.

Look for them to make a push for Julio Lugo from TB. Adams failed miserably at SS.
