SALSA :

Spinn, a happening pub in the heart of Bangalore, realised the significance of dance as a means to overcome stress and introduced Salsa, that sensuous Latin dance, in the City.

Salsa is also one of the best forms of exercise. Its goodness ranges from health, weight loss and muscle gain boosting physical endurance, to confidence building, learning to socialise, spicing up relationships, makes you cherish it over the years and above all, is a wonderful stress buster.

According to Lourd Vijay,
SALSA in his words of advice to his students - the steps are very simple, but timing is the main factor in Salsa. He also lays a lot of emphasis on dance etiquette.

Anupama Iyer, Kannada cinestar got involved in the dance and says that is really exciting, but requires more practice.

TYPES OF SALSA DANCES :
- Salsa Cuban style(Casino Rueda)
- Salsa- L.A.Style
- Salsa-New York Style
- Mambo
- Merengue
- Bachata
- Cha Cha

Salsa is about rythm. You don't need a partner to start. First you have to find your place with the music, feel it, forget about the steps, just dance. Once you have that covered then you can start by incorporating the basic steps. If you want to dance like a ballroom dancer, take classes, if you want to dance like a puertorican, dance to the rythm and don't stop shaking that booty. good luck!

Salsa is sloppy mambo and mambo is single step cha cha. Yes, it is fairly easy to learn and you can probably find a teacher or studio in your yellow pages. Or go to www.dancescape.com or www.ballroomdancers.com and find a studio/teacher through those websites.
