Syd was definitely the creative force behind early Pink Floyd and was a naturally gifted artist in every sense of the word. All the media focus on him being the drug fuelled 'pixie' genius of Floyd and later, the sad 'acid causality' recluse, fails to celebrate a life of significance and influence. He was like a 'fire work' exploding in front of us..briefly and we all shared in its wonder, confusion and excitement. Shine on!

I still care and always will. Syd is my favourite musician and I felt he was my friend too as I felt I got to know him through his music.

I've found new meaning in some of his songs, for example 'Flaming' (the line 'streaming through the starlit sky') and 'Dark Globe (Wouldn't You Miss Me)'.

I still care - I know that someone of his originality comes along only rarely and that not everyone understands that kind of abstraction - such a shame he never realised his full potential.

He will always be missed (as he always has been...)

its sad that the great syd barret is no longer with us. maybe he is happy now in the dark side of the moon , having a great gig in the sky. if only he could have join the rest of the band for a renunion. sad.

Is it co-incidence that Floyd have just released Pulse on DVD or is there a higher power at work here?

He will be missed. He left a footprint behind far larger than the average person.

He probably didn't even realise he was dying. He was so perma-fried he would have put Brian Wilson to shame.

But yes, that crazy diamond will be missed...

I didn't care when I heard and I still don't care. I hate Pink Floyd.
