Hello, the official language of the USA is ENGLISH...
so far...if u can't speak/understand American English, i have one word 4 U: LEARN. When in Rome!!

The reason for this is because people who dont speak english wont understand to push 1. that way, by not pressing anything, the phone menu will default to an operator that can speak spanish. it makes it easy for the people who can't take enough time to learn our language.

I've been asking the same question myself. I think if someone cannot speak English then the question should be put something like this to them, "If you cannot speak English, press 1"
