Oh, it is a real feeling all right. When I was for a year in US high school, some of the other international students really had a very hard time. When you see a person who is excited about being there, joyful, funny, etc., and in a couple of months see them depressed, dispirited... crying at the mere sound of their native language... you sort of stop doubting its reality.

I personally got out of the hook, but then I always had firmly fixed in my mind the thought that I would be going home at the end of the year, and I kept in touch with my family, so it wasn't really a problem. But I have seen it.

I lived in Germany for 6 months when I was 17. Sure I would get homesick once in awile but I was having such a good time that I didn't think about it.

Its not just being homesick its the missing of something importent. If your home is not important your won't feel it but you may have the feeling for your pets when they die, or a person you used to see alot moves away.

Yes there is a such feeling. You miss your home, your bed, family, friends, etc. Everyone doesn't feel this way, but I do even when I go on vacation for an extended period.

I think it's more of just missing what is familiar to you. Right after I moved out, I used to miss living at home a lot.

Look at a family picture. Cry, boo-hoo-hoo.... Then smile. You are on your way just like Mom and Dad were when they grew up, to be your own adult.
