If by partner you mean married its a no contest,
Partner would come first whatever happens.
I have friends since the 1st day I can remember
If I had a problem they have helped,
If the problem was them and my wife they would step back
Thats what best friends would do

If they are A Friend
Would they cause an arguement
Hey would A Friend be the cause of a break up of FRIEND & WIFE
I think not
If they did they would not be the friend you thought they where
