They're almost a very pale blue, but they start to pink up very quickly.

having been there at the birth of all three of my children I can tell you that a new born baby the moment they emerge are a very dark blue with white mucus type material all over them. As soon as they hit the outside air they start to turn red sort of a pale scarlet which lightens to normal skin tones, normal white children. Sorry dont know about other races.

It's usually covered in placenta and blood, so....the average color is red.
If you mean after it's been cleaned and all, then the skin can be a shade of very pink to very white. If you feel that the color of your child is something to worry about, get it to a doctor immediately, as it could be getting very ill.

I agree with Rare Indigo....they are a bluish color at first and start to pink up a bit. I have had 3 kids and seen 2 other live births.

Depends on the mummmy and daddy, and the color is hard to tell because the baby is covered in a amniotic fluid.
