My fav film at the mo has to be Dead End. Some may not of heard of this, its quite a recent film but is done on a low budget. The best film Ive seen in a long time.
I watched the other night a film called the jacket this is also a spectacular film.

A bit old, this answer, but I have yet to see a better film than 'Brokeback Mountain'
It addresses a lot of questions and taboos and it is also very artistic, a really beautiful film ---
--- aside from that, I loved 'Jaquie and Hilary'
