What are some tips or stratgies for the game "Junta"?

I have read the rules but will be playing for the first time tomorrow. Any tips, suggestions, strageties, etc. would be appreciated.

Don't be El Presidente. It's the quickest way to get people against you--even if the money draw consists solely of 1-peso bills, no one will believe that "it's a real lousy year." The best position is the Minister of Security; you get to assassinate someone.

If you're playing with a bunch of people you can add the Ag Minister and one other position, and those add a lot of fun to the game. (Ag minister I believe gets some money in addition to what El Presidente gives to him)
