The distance from Philadelphia to Sea Isle City is 100 mi. A car was driven this
distance using tires with a radius of 14 in. How many revolutions of each tire
occurred on the trip?

Could someone please explain to me how to get the answer. I know it is 72, 000 revolutions, but how do I get this answer?

100 miles = 100*5280*12 inches = 63,360
14in radius = 28in diameter
circumference = 28pi
rotations = 6,336,000/28pi

Distance = one hundred mi Radius = 14 in discover the circumference of the tire. C = 2 * pi * r C = 2 * pi * (14 in) C = 40 3.ninety 8 in Convert your one hundred miles to inches supplies 6,336,000 inches. Divide your distance in inches by using your circumference in inches (as a results of the indisputable fact that could represent one revolution in accordance to circumference). kind of revolutions = 140 four,058

I'll give you the simplest right answer, I am a year 8 and currently doing this stuff now.
Well start of with your radius is (2xpiex14) and then the answer of that times it by 100. Easy
I hoped this helped you.

the circumference of the tyre is given by, c = 2*(22/7)*r. where r is radius.
now that give cirumference 'c' in inches.
total distance in mile is 100. 1 mile equals 63,360 inches. hence total distance in inches, d = 6336000 in.
hence, no. of revolutions, n = d/c.

do the calulations urself.
