I have always loved soccer (football), playing and especially watching. I am a big fan of the world cup, and especially enjoyed watching this years tournament.

Last year I started following the premiership, and became a big fan. we can get a fair amount of the games here on TV in the states. They were fun to watch, but i don't really have a favorite team. With the new season quickly approaching i decided it will be much more fun if i have a favorite team to follow. The problem is i really have no idea which team to support.

If you are a fan of a certain team, explain to me why i should become a fan, and support them.

Key Factors:

They need to be fairly good
so i can see the games on TV and so they don't get relegated ( i wont be able to watch championship division games)

Also, i'm a bit wary of supporting Chelsea or Man U, i dont want people to think i am supporting them just beacuse they are really good.

I'm leaning towards Liverpool, what do you think?

Okay... TO CLARIFY:

I am talking about real football, "SOCCER", not american football. I dont need more answers like "broncos" and "patriots"

Totally agree, avoid supporting a 'big' team and being labelled a glory-hunter. For this reason, avoid Liverpool & Arsenal as well as Chelsea & Man Utd - Liverpool are traditionally the most successfull and most supported team, Arsenal have been the number two team (to either Man U or Liverpool) for 20 years. The guy who talks about Arsenal having home-grown talent forgot to mention that they played half the season without a single Englishman in the side. The two English players they did have have either left (Sol Campbel) or are about to (Ashley Cole to Chelsea for 15m GBP).

If you want to support a decent team with good support, play attractive football, have a long history, who will get coverage and has a decent shot at Champions League action, it has to be Tottenham Hotspurs (Spurs).

I'm a Chelsea fan so we are bitter rivals but they have great players, a v good manager and are perennial under-achievers.

Up until 3 years ago, all those things could have been said about Chelsea but today, coming new to the sport, Spurs are the way to go.

Welcome to the wonderful world of football.

I'm a Manchester United fan but if you want to support an underdog you should deffinately go for Wigan Athletic. This seasin will only be their second season in the Premiership. They don't have much money but they play exciting football and I don't know a single person who dislikes them(no matter who they support). They wont win the league but the y wont be relegated. They will keep you on the edge of your seat and when they beat some of the 'big boys' (which they will) it will be such an achievment and they'll make you feel so proud.

If that doesn't work out then go for Manchester United because everyone hates us and it's great to see the look on Arsenal and Liverpool fans faces when we beat them. People wont think you're a glory hunter either because Chelsea -with their money- look unbeatable.

Liverpool or Arsenal, definitely. Although they probably wont be on TV, you should try and see how Reading is doing as well, as they were the fasted to gain premotion in the Championship Division in like 90 years or something, they might be in the middle of the pack. Definitely dont support Man U or Chelsea. Both of them buy lots of stuperstars from different countries and while they play well, it isnt so much of a "team" as it is a bunch of really, really good football players on the same team. Personally, I am an Arsenal fan. While their stars tend to be from places outside of England (Henry, France, Lehman, Germany, Ljunberg, Sweden), they still have homegrown players, and while they are really good, you can never be confident that they will do well, which makes their games fun and exciting to watch. Liverpool is also a quality choice though.

stick with liverpool
eventhough arsenal is a good squad they are a bunch of punks and hacks besides a few of the player such as henry who is amazing to watch. liverpool seems to be the only team this year that may have a chance at knocking off chelsea who basicallt buy the title. with the italian scandals lately many world class players are being thrown onto the market which may make this season more interesting. Liverpool dosent have many "all star" players besides steven gerrard who basically can one an the team in times of need they play as a team and not a bunch of individuals they move the ball well and play decent football
in terms of very decent and exciting football chelsea and barcelona have to be at the top of the list. Support barcelona !! they have no cooperate sponsors and play unimaginable
CMON U REDS TAKE THE CUP THIS YEAR!!!!
Reds= liverpool

if you want to watch alot of football get fox soccer channel

Liverpool is the greatest, but Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs /my favorite :)/ are a good choice too. Chelsea and Manchester United are boring choices, as you mentioned.

But if you are looking for the surprise - Charlton Athletic or Portsmouth.

Choice is yours - I am sure there is a very good reason to choose any of the teams in Premiership.

Good Luck & Have Fun - that is what it is all about :)

Arsenal is the way to go, they have a very strong team already but are not on the top of the Premiership. They are also acquiring many more players during the offseason so they should have a good chance of winning the English league this year.

GO GUNNERS!

Wrexham. or NEw York Redbulls.
Ok just kidding. Everyone expects Chelsea or Liverpool to win. They then say Man U may have a chance. But dude, support the gunners. ARSENAL BABY! Rosicky who they just bought will prove to be better than Ballack or Gerrad, just u wait and see. Go with the gunners!

If your sure you can`t support Manchester United, there is only one other football team worth a mention, and that`s the one you said you were leaning toward`s. Yes that`s right Liverpool.
