Actually I hope it's something I needed really bad, and didn't realize...

No, I don't always need or want anything. I think the reason they got the gift is the real gift. What the item is I prefer it to be something I will remember that person and that moment by for a long time.
I remember being a small child and getting a big pink elephant...my brothers gave me that elephant, took all their allowances that christmas. I hated the elephant, but I loved my brothers for the gift. I'm almost 50 and I remember that still. I cried and thanked them all. The biggest regret I have about that gift, I don't have the elephant, but he memory is terrific!

You either hope that it is someone you need, want or if it is of sentimental value like a thought from the heart, or something to remind you of something special including an event, place or time only you and the other perso know of, e\one will hold on to the gift forever.

Sure I do, but I'm appreciative of the thought when it isn't something I need or want. And I always hope they don't know the person that gets my secret santa gift come Christmastime. Unless its something that I don't need nor did I want but that has special meaning with the relationship I have with the person that I will keep as a keepsake.

I love and appreciate any gift given to me. It's the thought and love, that makes the gift special, whether or not it's what you want or need. I can buy what I want, but a gift is what someone else wants you to have. Appreciate that someone cares enough , and wants to do something nice for you.

I hope it is something that it is personal or an attempt to be thoughtful, sometimes what appears to be worthless to someone else can have a deeper symbolic meaning for you and the gift giver and the most meaningful or valuable gift of all for the reciever

It's A Gift
Whatever It Is Jus Accept It
That's For Me
I Don't Care If I Need It Or Not
It's A Token From The Person

I would and do always hope it is something that someone who knows me has thought about and decided it is right for me, not just a 'general' gift that would do for anyone.. like bath oil etc
(tho i have been guilty of giving those sorts of gifts now and then)

It is the thought that counts and not the gift. Besides, if you expect a gift that you want, disappointment might kill you. If you ask for a gift and it happened not to your liking, well, beggars cannot be choosers. Just count your blessings.

I always hope it's what I want. I will buy for myself what I need, but usually run out of money before I can get what I want.
