Yes. I think that all the emphasis put on sex is bad in general.

I don't think they are really a cause of problems. Maybe they perpetuate some of them, but they're just effects mainly.
The reason (men) buy porn is because (women) have been seen as objects, and buying porn is a way to get a piece of that object if we can't afford the real things.
And (at least America) has bought into the idea that things are more important to own than having good relationships with others.
As for prostitution; why don't we end ALL jobs? Money for work? That's just a scam! (Money is printed up AT WILL with no real work being done to back up the money.) (see "Federal Reserve") ("In God We Trust", not "In Gold We Trust")

No skimpy clothing either? Why do people fear the beautiful human body? They fear it because it is other person's power. They fear it because it represents the intimacy they fear!

It's all about good vs evil. You could take any of these things and find some good and some evil. Most of the time they are distractions from reality. It's a shame that we can't see the forrest for the trees. If this world is ever going to change for the better,we must stop being temporally pacified. It's a sad state of affairs that we equate success with all these things that are so swallow. They really are immature.

I don't think so. I believe in the philosophy of "live and let live". If a person wants to do those things but cannot, he is unhappy. When many people are unhappy, the world is not a better place. By the same principle, these things should not be imposed on people who do not want them, e.g. don't harass people on the street trying to sell them pornography or prostitutes. Discreteness and tolerance for the win.

Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world, even the bible addresses it. However, skimpy clothing, and porn and the entertainment world in general puts alot of pressure on our young people to be sexually active. I think it is very hard to grow up these days. I worry that my children have a warped view of sex from all the rap music, movies and tv that they take in.

Sex is very important and unfortunately men and women don't have the same tendencies at the same time through life. I don't know what was suppose to happen but all those things are filling the void. very few men have a conscious about sex acts and I don't know why and women don't relate we men love to see women's bodies and i just don't think anything is wrong with that but most women do so i say keep prostitution and porn because i couldn't live without it.

Yes. Analogy: a criminal does something that harms another. By harming others in society (i.e. stealing, beating someone up, rape, murder, etc.) the criminal harms themselves - they force society to make tougher and tougher laws to prevent criminality. Honest people suffer but so does the criminal because they still have to exist in that society which now has tougher laws.

Imagine you have a sister or friend you truly care for. How would you feel if you saw her working the corner as a prostitute? Or if you saw her in a porno? How would her parents feel? Would it harm them? Would it make her parents' lives better or worse? Would they suffer over what their friends and family think of them for raising a person to make such decisions? Would they fear for her safety and life if she was a hooker working the dangerous streets where death, drugs and STDs run free?

You can ask such questions about nightclubs and skimpy clothing but they're not quite on the level of porno and prostitution. But then again, they're not too far away and I can understand why you grouped them together.

So does porno and prostitution harm people? Do you think the porn star or prosititute ever suffer sometime down the line? I can understand that some people are fine with this but for every porn star and prosititute, are there family or friends who suffer? Maybe there are parents out there that really support their daughter on film taking on 3 guys simultaneously, and are fine with all their friends knowing about it and proudly play the film during their Thanksgiving family gathering. But it seems fair to say most are seriously harmed when someone they care for gets involved with this sort of thing. The ones that aren’t harmed are usually in some sort of difficult life condition themselves.

And what about the porno films makers and the pimps? When they employ the porn star or prosititute are they unaware that the porn star or prosititute has loved ones that are truly suffering over the situation? Are they aware that they are participating in harming others?

There are things like the revoking of such "liberties" is unconstitutional or would be brought about by some unreasonably controling police state or that humans just love to f*ck. (Sex is an important part of life but horniness is no justification for the suffering that's associated with porn and prostitution.) This kind of view smells like control, whether by a government or by a sex drive or whatever, that we are all controlled by this or that and life is but a slavery of sorts to such controlling factors, and it’s understandable why one would see it that way.

But then there’s ethics, those actions one takes upon themselves to purposely do good things for self and for others, for the sake of a better existence for self and others. If the level of ethics was generally higher amongst people, prosititution and porno would fade away. With such ethics (and responsibility), the pain the parents experience alone would be enough to make people stop. But not everyone is willing to accept this, possibily because they might not be able to envision what a widespread heightened level of ethics would be like. Or they don’t trust others or something. But higher ethics means a better world where we have more control over life instead of it control us. Porn, prosititution, criminality, war, famine and other such things would fade away. Would life be easier to live without these things? So, yea, with a higher sense of ethics (which believe it or not is slowly but surely in progress by various groups around the world right now, for the first time in human history), without prosititution and porn, the world would be a better place.

"Somehow" contribute? Prove that.

And NO, I don't thing the world would be a better place. That would mean that someone would have the power to tell me who can have sex with, what kind of pictures I can look at, where I can go dancing, and what I can wear.

Do you REALLY think that would be better?

Ask the societies that the Roman empire conquered in the journey that they imagine the international may be better off with out swords and spears. guy has been killing guy senselessly considering guy walked the earth. with out guns, there is a few thing to take it is position. you could kill an Elk at 80 yards with a bow and arrow. I understand your element, and agree that on the outset it appears that evidently that guns are the issue. i imagine we are stepping into an entire different communique if we can talk about little youthful toddlers capturing one yet another and "enormous adult males" If between the better experienced and robust human beings were knocking at your door and searching at your spouse longingly .......i imagine your outlook on firearms may fluctuate.
