if PhD is doctor of philosophy, why should there be PhDs in physics, chemistry, maths and other subjects? why are they all clubbed into one doctor of philosophy? well, i presume, once a student completes his Bachelor degree and the Masters and then completes his doctoral level too, his maturity of mind would be so high after doing so many years of research that he tends to look at his subject philosophically than as a mundane subject. hence the title, i suppose :))
