As with any other issue in marriage, BOTH must compromise, or it won't work.

That he is able to hold a job even with his challenges, shows that he does have the ability to exert some control over WHEN and WHERE his "odd" behaviors are exhibited.

For his own sanity, he DOES need a "safe area" in which he can truly be himself... obsessions, collections, autistic routines, and all.

Perhaps he can have an area of the house for his collection... a "hobby room," or area.

My husband had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. He has his own areas, and I have mine. He better not dump stuff in my areas! And I stay out of his. Even with medication, he has his routines and compulsions, but we've learned to compromise between our family's "normal" needs and his special ones.

He also has a Master's Degree and holds a professional job.

I think there are much worse things that people tolerate. If he's caring and loving and you care and love him, I'd say go for it. That's really all that counts.
