If you're talking about the Address Bar above the page but below the icons, right click your Start menu bar (anywhere that there's no icons or anything) and then click Properties. Click the Start Menu tab.

If you are using the new XP-style Start menu (it's the first option on this dialog box - you'd have an All Programs option if you hit Start if you were), click Customize, then on the Advanced tab, and then click Clear List in the Recent Documents section.

If you are using the Classic Start menu (the second option), click Customize, then click Clear in the middle of the dialog box.
