As far as I am concerned, all aspects of a song are important, but that could also be because I am a musician, lyricist, and songwritier, and my senses are better attenuated to the individual components of the composition. The casual listener or non-musically inclined/involved individual would perhaps give a different answer due to their lack of technical cognizance or specialization in such matters.

d) I listen to it all togther like it was intended to be. Initially I may be attracted to a song by the melody or beat but it has to have a good blend of all three to really make me pay attention and listen.
Of course I am bit older than many if not most on this site and grew up before hip hop and rap became so popular. And most of that I don't listen to because if I like the melody I find the lyrics are poor or it has a canned and very repetitive drum beat. To much of it now sounds the same. But I do listen to some modern music I can't help it, I have a 13yr old daughter.

i listen to everything but if one thing sucks like the lyrics or the beat then it kind of ruins the song altogether. i typically look at lyrics first though. i listen to a lot of country music and some songs have the same beat and melody as others and the lyrics are usualy the only thing that make the song stand out.

I listen to the music, for the first couple of times I listen to the song, each time I hear the song I concentrate on an indivdual instrument, then I listen to and learn the lyrics, so I can sing-a-long (Terribly, might I add).

Normally concentrate on guitars.. It is the complete song that attracts you, then you will listen to different parts of a song.

Generally people don't single out any specific detail right away. If it sounds good to the ear, that's all that matters. It's a combination, really. There's no individual effort-- They all work systematically to compliment one another.

it depends on the song and genre.
if its rock or blues then i listen to the bass.
if its dance ( trance & drum n base ) then i listen to the high pitched sounds.
some songs i just love the vocals so obviously thats what i listen to.
