As soon as your pain becomes regular you should take that as a sign that you are in labour. It could take a while for your waters to break if this is your first child. Wait until your contractions are about 4 or 5 minutes apart and then ring the hospital.

If your waters break before that or the pain becomes unbearable, then wait no longer to ring.

Congratulations and good luck. Would love to know what you had!

They usually say to wait until your contractions are regularly 5 minutes apart or closer. I'm only 29 weeks and since about 24 weeks have been having contractions that narrow down to maybe five minutes apart then move back up to being anywhere from 20min to half an hour apart. I did have painful contractions 2 minutes apart and it still turned out to be false labor (no cervical change even after a few hours). I'd call the hospital or your doctor, wherever has a 24 hour line, and see what they say. They'll give you instructions on what to look for and when to come in. Truthfully, even when you're getting painful, regular contractions, the only way to tell if it's false labor or not is by cervical change, and that should only be checked by a professional.

You should go to the hospital! My first baby, labor nevered came 5 or 10 minutes apart. They were all off! The pain got worst! I went to the Hospital. I was in labor, I started dilating! then 3 to 7 hours later I had my baby! All natural! So you should go! You are close to your due date! Like the saying goes! (40 weeks is full term! but you can be 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after! Still full term.

first of all how far along r u?

if you are about due you might wanna keep good track cause you may be going into labor, if they just come and go you need to relax drink plenty of water and maybe take a nap. If by doing this they go away then it is braxton hicks, if not then Congrats you are about to be a mommy!

Long time ago...
my contractions were irregular, just like yours. I had then a whole day, so I went to the hospital that evening. The next morning the nurse said, "You are not in labor. Our machines are not registering your contractions. We are going to send you home." The doctor came in and said, "She is ready." Minutes later I experienced the happiest day of my life.

it could be the early stages of labour. but don't get excited yet cos it could last anything from a few hours to a few days. the only way to know for sure is to visit dr or midwife so they can check if your cervix has started softening. my labour started the way you described on a thurs evening, i eventually gave birth the mon afternoon after inducing with castor oil - don't do this before checking with dr or midwife.
may you have all the strength and love to get through this awesome experience.

The best bet is take yourself to the hospital and let them know on what is going on and they might have to induce your labor.

you have to know which one is true contraction and which one is the false one.
My suggestion is to wait until you break your water, then you can go to the hospital.
