My son doesn't want to drink any types of milk. He even refuse to drink whole milk. At first he will take a sip, but when he knows that it's milk, he refused it. I've tried giving him various types of milk, even flavoured ones but no progress. What should I do now?

My son was like that too. We tried lots of things, even cow's milk which he absolutely hated, and we finally found a formula which he liked. At first, though, i had to put about a teaspoon of sugar in his 200ml bottle, and gradually I took the sugar out. He is now drinking formula without any sugar in it. Maybe your baby is lactose intollerant. Talk to you doctor. They should be able to help. Good Luck!

my daughter would not drink formula, so I breast fed till she was 14 months. From there we started a sippy cup and she would only drink water in it she did not like milk and only wanted juice occasionally. What we did was give her yogurt every day, instead of milk. With that she also ate table foods. She is now 20 months and my brother in law gave her vanilla soy milk a few weeks ago and well she loved it so now that is what she drinks a few times a day, and it is so much better for her than cow milk comparing the 2 side by side. So I say don't stress about it try other things milk is not the only source of calcium. Broccoli has a lot I have heard as well. once every few weeks or even monthly try milk again (or soy milk). One day he may or may not learn to like it one day.

I would try Ovaltine if he's old enough. My son loves it and he is only 16 mos old. If he is under one, ask your doctor. He may have an allergy to Milk or to all milk based products. You need to check and see if he is having the same prob w/ all dairy foods.
ex: milk, cheese, ice cream, yogurt, etc.
If he is, then there's your answer. If he is old enough and he still doesn't want it, try supplementing his calcium. Give him yogurt, ice cream, cheese, etc. These things are all high in calcioum and his little body will take it none the less. It doesn't know the diff between a glass of milk and a bowl of yogurt. It only recognizes the calcium.

well if you tried to give him all types of milk including soy and flavored maybe you should warm it up for him but it all depends on his age in the meantime try giving him calcium fortifide Orange juice by Tropicana it has the same amount as Milk but only if the child is over a year ...good luck

Please do not feed your child sugar at an early age it can disturb their stomach if hes an infant consult a doctor asap.

I wouldn't suggest sweetening the milk to get him to drink it, that could be bad for his teeth on the long run. He can get the benefits of milk by eating cheese, yoghurt and even ice cream. Does he have a favorite cereal? Have you tried given it to him with milk. talk to his pediatrician, he should have some advice on how to deal with this.

give him calcium in other forms, Icecream, cheese, yoghurt. Sneak it into foods like a sweet white or chocolate sauce over his fruit or make puddings. Make pudding-pops by making instant pudding and freezing it in small cups with a popsicle stick, There are lots of ways to get enough milk int a child. i used to make a dessert with jello, and put 1 1/2 cups of milk instead of the second cup of water when my kids didn't drink enough.

Lots of kids hate the heck out of milk. Cheese and a multivitamin that is high in calcium should do the trick.

i agree with emanon - his refusal may indicate an intolerance or allergy.

reminder - allergies can worsen with exposure. you may want to stop trying with the milk right now. depending on his age, size, and diet it MIGHT be alright to give him water only when he is thirsty.

i'd suggest you avoid sugary drinks - including fruit juice, except for treats (or dilute juice 1:1 with water, or give juice only AFTER the child has eaten his meals)

this is what worked for my three kids.

How old is he? Maybe Pediasure would do the trick? My dd wouldn't drink milk at one year of age until I added Ovaltine....
