It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the
shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, more
vengeance, more desolation. War is hell.
~William Tecumseh Sherman~
I would appreciate any comments and thoughts on this as this is part of a letter I recieved from a woman whose life was being torn apart by the war. At one point in the letter she went on to say 'My hands are shaking as I write this, because the bombs are falling all round me.'

I find it quite sad when only 5 peple respond to something as profound and important as the issues raised by this yet ask people stupid and nonsensical questions and you get 100s of answers in seconds!!

From the first time a man took another man's life, millions upon millions of years ago, our skill at murder, no matter the cause, has continually impoved. We are efficient at mass murder. Sure, we fight for God or democracy to justify it in our minds, but that does not mean reality has changed.

People die because of the whims of a few. As long as we continue to drop the bombs for them, and keep them in power, this will always happen.

It breaks my heart to think of all the unnecessary pain people are forced to bear, around the world and in the U.S. It is meaningless, senseless, but not one person, be he american or lebanese, is willing to fight against it. That breaks my heart even more.

War is terrible. But sometimes necessary! You cannot have peace with terrorist regimes! It is impossible! Israel is doing the only logical thing it can to survive! Anyone who does not understand that is either stupid or stubborn!

(what do you do for a living, how come you're receiving letters like that?social work?)

amidst this crisis, there's still hope. and there're those who brings light.

i admire the impartial volunteering groups, those who risk their lives to help-out in war-torn areas. it is people like them that makes me respect humanity still, it is the likes of them that strengthens my belief of the essential goodness of every man, it is them that we should emulate. they are our modern-day messiahs. they bring light to these war-torn areas...

the civilians are caught in the crossfires. they are victimized.

I would like to help.and since the distance is so vast....i could only pray---for peace.
