I hate to follow the crowd but this time I must, we're doing you a favor. By lowering your expectations by telling you to rent this, you will be plesantly suprised that it is a VERY OK movie. Seriously, if you have low expectations you will be suprised. In the mean time, by the illustrated book and read up :-)

Go ahead and rent it. It was very well done and, although fast-paced, you would enjoy seeing it on the bigscreen. I do recommend reading the novel, though. There were a lot of elements, like concurrent events and historical references, that did not make it to film because of editing. Other elements, such as thoughts and descriptions, just can't be translated onto film, but have a greater impact on the story.

you have done enough reading the book. The movie and book are based upon lies. If your looking for a good book to read, read the Bible and you will never want to see the davinci code again. God Bless you

I think you can rent it. It's a good story, but it's not a stunning visual movie like Lord of the Rings, which you absolutely need to watch on a big screen.

No, the movie is a sleeping pill! Job well done in making it like the book...but just not as interesting on the big screen!

rent it and return it a few hours later claiming you mistakenly rented that one but ACTUALLY was going for something else and that your wife sent you back cuz it's the wrong movie.

I went to see it and left after 45minutes. It was uninteresting to me so I felt like I would rather be doing anything else!
