My season is coming up and I have every thing down such as running routes, catching, and my footwork. But I still have trouble blocking as a WR. What can I work on to become better at this?

practice hard, watch the belt buckle/hips of DB. lift weights, get strong, so when you drive, you REALLY drive them across the field, or at least out of the play. try not to fall for jukes from the dbs. also ask your own coach....

WTF??

Don't worry about that...that is such a secondary skill it's negligeable.

You're so far wide out that the average cornerback is out of the game anyways.

Sometimes, the nature in which you "present" yourself helps...
if you "show" deep pass...the cornerback stays with you and you pull him right out of the play.

If he is REALLY good and knows how to diamond the ball (for plays away from you), just getting your body in front of him - after 5 yards...will be enough.

If the play is on your side...and you HAVE to be the play maker...
square your shoulders to the CB...keep shoulders over your knees...crouch to a "breakdown" position...just like in basketball...and keep him in front of you and to the outside.

if you sweat having to be a better blocker...you miss out on being the better receiver.

it takes 15 years of practice to make an excellent football player
- if you haven't been playing for 15 years...you have a lot to learn about catching the ball and getting up field first.

I'm a defensive coordinator...I don't have all the answers...but I can certainly tell you blocking is a nominal, simple thing from your position.

i have a dot com site if you'd like to look

Upper body strength is obvious, maybe try some of the full back practices/workouts, they block for rushers all the time, it might help you.
