You know, the abused children that we help get so excited when they hear that sound. They feel safe knowing that the people that have pledged to help shield them from anymore abuse, might be just around the corner. If having loud pipes on my bike can help a child feel safer, then your objection means absolutely nothing to me.

I have heard such terrifying testimony in a court room about how an infant was burned numerous times with a cigarrette, bitten, shaken and tortured (then murdered before the age of 9 months), and you sit there so self righteous complaining about a little noise?? You need to sit back, shut up and pay attention. It's not all about you!!!

hey mewantrune...what's your problem??? We all are against child abuse, but as our founder said in Washington...what are you doing about it. The more I think about your comment, the more I know that you are a total moron!! Might be good therapy for you in a room with no ventilation and a butt load of fumes...

As for the rest of you, thank you...I don't try to annoy anyone with my pipes, I like to be heard. Children feel safer for the fact that there is a biker out there, and they have been adopted into the biker "family" kind of like having a brother around the corner after you were abused. Another good organization that I hooked up with is Patriot guard. We have rapped our pipes to drown out the protesters screaming that the soldier was in hell while the mom and dad, or spouse walked into the church. There is a time and place, and I agree it is not at 2am in a residential hood. God bless you all... keep the shiny side up, pipes loud, and bikers alive!!

I'm all about loud pipes so people around me (or any other biker) in vehicles will know I'm there. The bike I just bought is peacefully quiet and it's a SCARY thing (new pipes will be the first change made to it). Loud pipes save lives....however, there are *ssholes in every crowd and those who have 'em and use 'em JUST to annoy others make all those with loud pipes look bad.

As for the kids...it's awesome to see the smiling faces...the Southern Cruisers (Riding Club) supports St. Jude's...it's a great thing to be part of and I've heard the stories of the joy the kids express upon hearing the bikes coming...

Loud Pipes Save Lives!

Sorry, but this is a specious argument. I fail to see how a LOUD motorcycle is any better for abused children than ones that don't set off car alarms and rattle your windows.

Having been a kid who loved motorcycles - and now seeing their reactions to bikes, I know that they love them.

But if loud pipes are so helpful to them, then why doesn't their therapy consist of sitting in a room with someone revving at them?

some issues right here. One, Harley's are not rude, human beings are rude. And, more desirable than ever, human beings seek for reason's to get indignant. i'm particular he's the jerk right here, yet no longer all individuals Harley riders are going to attempt this to you. next time someone supplies the finger in site visitors, for in spite of the rationalization, merely ignore about it and take solice contained in the actual undeniable reality that you probably did not take a year off your own existence for paying for so worked up for what quite quantities to no longer something. in case you gained't to get indignant, look on the race for president. Not sure who this is directed to but the reasoning that motorcyclists have loud pipes is so that those people "tripping to their music" on full volume will hear them while in their cars, and be LESS likely to "cut them off." This is why you see bumper stickers like "start seeing motorcycles!" Many drivers of cars are downright oblivious to them... and in some ways motorcycling in heavy traffic is the most treacherous for these riders... they are thus using loud pipes to call attention to themselves for safety's sake, NOT to purposely "annoy" others or to "show off"!
Let's understand that from the "get-go!"

Ditto
We support "Bikers Defending Children".

You know, the window rattling lowriders don't make excuses for their loud, obscene noise pollution. Riders who like loud exhaust ought to just say so, without the "loud pipes save lives" . I like my stock exhaust, my HD riding neighbor has straight exhausts. I don't have a problem with that.

Well, I think the theory is that it makes the bike easier to hear, and less likely that a car will hit you.

I think most of it is actually just a coolness factor. But I'm all for it; as long as you're not redlining your bike in my yard at 4 am, who cares.
