Well, you need to know basically how the song is going to sound. Being a singer/songwriter/musician myself, you need to pick an instrument and learn some chords on it and start creating some tunes. You could always hire people to write music for you but it is going to be extremely expensive.

Before you go into a recording studio to make a demo, you will want to hire a few people that will perform with you in the recording studio. It won't be cheap. If you have friends that are musicians, maybe they will help you out, and if you make money, you can give them a percentage.

The better the recording studio, the more it will cost. You can find people that operates a $800 digital recorder in their basement to let you record for $20-60 an hour. Now if you go to a business, that specializes in sound editing and remastering, you will end up paying $60-100+. an hour.

Recording studios don't produce music for you, that is you job and your bands job. You must assemble the music the best you can and find people that will make you sound good. The recording studios may have names of guitarist, drums, keyboard players, and other instrumental players for you to hire, but you have to individually make a contract with them yourself.

Recording music is an expensive project. This one musician from New York says it cost him $100,000 to make a cd, but he is very good. The whole sound of the record is just superb. He normally records about 12 songs per disc.
