why are so many people today telling me they hate christianity, people that pride themselves as liberal humanists but at the same time condemn christianity?

How about you learn a little about the religion before you hate it?

Why do most right wing christians support war and capitol punishment, but are against abortion and stem cell research?

Perhaps that is why they hate it....they've been there, done that.....they've seen the hypocrisy of Christianity for how it truly is...They've lived it! perhaps 'Hate Christianity' is not the correct definition, perhaps it is only people just "NOT AGREEING" with Christianity as MAN'S 'organized religion' and Man's interpretation(s). Christians seem to have a judgemental intolerance about them that rubs many the wrong way...Christianity is a contradiction of today's pseudo-christian climate....you all seem to spend more time and energy on trying to "save the souls" of others than you do on truly practicing your own "christian values"...Instead of preaching peace, you condemn, you judge, you hate...you should take a few pointers from liberal humanists.
Ironic, they seem to be more "Christian" than Christians....how sad for you.

The climate in America today is straight out of George Orwell's 1984. Fear rules over everything: Fear of poverty, fear of foreigners, fear of minorities, fear of violence, fear of drugs, fear of losing, fear of the people you know are right getting booted out of the White House and getting replaced by the wrong people.
Please.
What ever happened to fear of God?
The stories of fear that fill the newspapers, cable news networks and radio stations are no accident. The Clash of Civilizations has been put into play by its architects who will exploit Christian and business conservatives' fears to reap a windfall at the expense of the taxpayer. Hundreds of billions of dollars are changing hands because the whole country is driven by fear to start a war. Three letters that hold so much destruction for many, and so many profits for the elite few.
Christianity has been hijacked by the GOP, and all the Christians can do is continue to warble "God Bless America" while they empty their wallets. Stand up, you Christians, and fight back! Turn the White House into the House of Light, so that your true Christian values of charity and forgiveness will sweep the planet, instead of B-52s and nuclear powered aircraft carriers. God is watching you.

I am Christian, and I don't hate Christianity, but the problem is the Neo-Cons and extreme right-wingers use Christianity to their own benefit. It's ok to hate gays because it is not allowed in the bible, but it is ok to go to war as long as it is in the name of Christianity.

This countries' Neo-Cons and extreme right-wingers want to force it on people, and when you do that, people push away and become mad if you continue to do so. America was built for the right to practice their own beliefs, and not to be forced on each other. That is why so much anger towards Christians...

most liberals don't hate christianity, they (including myself) hate it when evangelical christians force their beliefs upon the whole country...which is happening more and more with the republicans in power.

Abortion and stem cell research kill innocent babies. People that support that are murderers. Not that it makes it all better. People hate what they fear and what they fear is what they do not know and never will because they don't care.

"They will hate you, but remember that they hated me first."
"Rejoice in the face of persecution, for they did the same to the prophets of antiquity."
God is love; logically, those who reject Him will have less love.
