I don't think that aliens would notice, I would choose myself for sh%ts and giggles, and it would be nice to find out what aliens dring instead of tea in the morning.
If I was an alien king and had to choose the best of humanity then I would pick Belinda Carlisle from the 1980's, before she had kids as she is the most beautiful woman in existance at this point in time.
Intelligence is overated, why would high tech space faring aliens be impressed with a geek who can do what they consider simple things like splitting the atom, wheel Hawkings on to laugh at by all means but not as a serious contender.

We only got ideas how aliens appear or look like. Representing the human race does not require physical beauty. It will be more effective if our representative knows and is equipped with space travel requirements technically and intellectually. Aliens are known to be more intelligent than earthlings. Sending a moron will be futile if not comical.

I'll agree with Steven Hawking. He's simply the most intelligent person in current existance, and it's awful because he's trapped in this virtually useless body. He's brilliant.

George Bush? Maybe they'll beam him aboard their ship, where an alien says "Daddy, I want THIS one, can we keep him? I promise to housebreak train him!! Pleeezeee?????"....and VOOOM!!! The ship zips back to their homeworld....and we no longer have a bumbling prez to deal with.
