I do work for 2 companies. First of all, there is "Associated Content" (http://www.associatedcontent.com). Here, they buy exclusive and non-exclusive rights to your work. The pay isn't great, but it is a start and something. The other, I work for an online magazine called, "WhenMagazine" (http://www.whenmagazine.com). The magazine is just getting started up, and I'm the only staff writer at the moment, and last time I spoke with my editor...he was looking for more talent. At the time, he is not paying though. He plans to in the future. For WhenMagazine...go to the website or contact E.J. Addington at WhenMagazineBusiness@yahoo.com. You can also network and find publishers at MySpace! Let me know if you have a myspace account. Maybe we can work together on a project sometime. Take Care and Good Luck with your writing endeavors!

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Start and Run a Profitable Freelance Writing Business: Your Step- By-Step Business Plan (Self-Counsel Business Series) by Christine A. Adamec
* How to Become a Fulltime Freelance Writer: A Practical Guide to Setting Up a Successful Writing Business at Home (Road Map to Your Writing Career) by Michael A. Banks
* The Well-Fed Writer: Financial Self-Sufficiency As a Freelance Writer in Six Months or Less by Peter Bowerman
* The Freelance Success Book: Insider Secrets for Selling Every Word You Write (Write It, Sell It) by David Taylor
* Make a Real Living as a Freelance Writer: How to Win Top Writing Assignments by Jenna Glatzer

I also posted links to some free articles in the source box.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Go to:
craigslist.org
find your community
look under writing jobs.

Or
go to the Writer's Guild office nearest you.

OR
write about something you know, and submit it to places where you would like to have it published.
