MDF is an ISO image that can be used with several different applications.
1. MDF is one of the several CD image formats that Alcohol 120% can mount. Alcohol 120% is used for media backup. IsoBuster can interpret these files directly.
2. Also known as SQL Server Master Database File (MDF).
3. Also known as Menu Definition Files.
4. Also used for Adobe Systems Accelio (formerly JetForm).
5. Also used for I-deas Master Drafting Machine Data File (MDF).
6. Also used for Insight II Molecular Data File (MDF) - Insight II is a molecular modeling environment that provides a graphical interface to algorithms for molecular dynamics, homology modeling, de novo design, and electrostatics.
7. Also used for ProWORX Nxt Memory Data found in the NxT directory.
8. Also used for Star Trek Armada Map File Title & Image Information, it links .BZN File to Title and to custom .BMP.

There's several different programs that it could be related to. Most likely you have an Alcohol 120% image file. Here's a link though that will show all the possible functions for .mdf files:

You can open .mdf file with Microsoft Office Access.

It has to be mounted on a virtual drive. Use Alcohol 120% to mount in and it will behave as a cd drive. Then you can run the setup for your game.
