No look at all animals even if the males do mate with more than one female they jealously guard those females, from other males. Also many species kill young that they did not father, because they want to pass on thier genes. Look at wolves...the alpha male wont allow another male to mate with his female and the alpha female wont allow him to mate with anyother female.
To answer the other question, the reason for sexual jealousy in evolution would be to keep the strongest best males as the reproducers...because they guard thier mates from other males or if the challenger is more fit and a better animal he will defeat the defender and so pass on his superior genes.

Check this out for more info on wolves courtship behaviour..you will see they guard thier mates very jealously and may even kill an interloper or drive him/her out of the pack.

well i am not very sure. i dont thin so.
lions or others having fights over the female is more of competition and less to do with jealousy.

we do have some genetic basis to this, so i may doubt that some advanced mamals may have some kind of feeling like jealousy.

but jealousy is quite new in the range of feelings that have evolved.
