He drank so much because "In Cold Blood" is very hard
stuff. And Capote was not made of stone ... to sensitive maybe
for this TRUE story ... U must read the book, than You'll understand ....
even for us ( as readers ) it is very hard to
get through with that story ...

He drank a lot most of his life because he was an alcoholic. I don't think it was directly related to his writing or any particular maladjustment, it was a disease that he suffered from.
