why do many people think that just because you're older means you know more and you know better. im sick of it. if one is capable of doing what someone older can do then why dont they have the same privaleges. for instance getting a job.. why do u have to be 16 to wash dishes. hah thats g@y. or just because youre young no one will bother listening. what kind of future is this?!

Just the fact that you're using "gay" as an insult shows your immaturity. Job laws are there for your protection. Deal with it.

I empathize with you, and not all people who are older ignore someone who wants to work or be responsible.

In your question you ask about having to be 16 - that is the child labor law. That was put into place because of children being put to work in sweat shops and the like for very little money, not able to get an education, and many died from overwork and no food.

I think you could do other things if you want to work, (and by the way, I applaud you for wanting to do that), I think there is no age problem with delivering newspapers, it's not glamerous, but then again neither is washing dishes. Babysitting is an option, as well. Yahoo news had a young man on for his lemonade stand making money because he wore a suit. If you cannot find a job, then fill your time with getting done with your education faster, so you can get into the business world sooner.

And, actually, if you want to be a business woman, then pay attention to the newcasters and women on television (not in shows, or comics, but on Discovery Channel, etc. - the real deal, if you want to say that), their dress, their manner, their grammar, everything. They actually are fairly young (just out of college and the like), and they excel because they set a goal, and they learned what they needed to do to get that goal.

You sound like you want to do things, and earn money, and be able to say what you think and have people listen. You can do that, but keep in mind - people who are older than you, have felt they way you have, they have learned the hard way (and some have not learned at all), how to accomplish what they want in life. You have to realize that since they have "been there, done that", that they can give you insight or tips on how to make your climb to success easier and without the heartbreaks or problems they had. Do not be so hard-headed that you do not listen; you don't have to agree, but at least listen.

After you are legally able to work, and if you apply for a job that you are qualified to do, and someone else gets that job who does not have the qualifications for the job, but was hired instead of you because they were, for example, a cousin or something, then investigate that. What I mean is, if you were discriminated against, follow your legal rights.

Just a final note, if you want to be heard, do not use "hah thats g@y". That is a reflection of your maturity level. You do not hear that in the business world. Learn what is appropriate for your future goal and learn it so well it is like you knew nothing else before. Look at the successful women you admire, you will see it is all hard work from a very young age (no matter what) race car driver, an actress, a lawyer, a doctor, a cookie maker, stockbroker, discover your goal and work hard to obtain it.

Age is not the source of maturity. Experience is what creates maturity. People with age have more experiences and have a better chance of being mature. People with less age can be just as mature as someone older, it's all based on the experiences and choices of those two people.

The reason society sets age limits for activities is because there is no test they can give that will prove that a person is mature. They can only say that past a certain age, a person should have the maturity required to do whatever the limit prevents. Sadly, this isn't always true.

I remember what it felt like to be a teenager. And it was just like that. But being 25 now, and still feeling much like a teenager myself, I realize how much age DOES have with maturity. There are certain things you go through as you grow older, that are just not important as a teen. Like rent and bills and kids and relationships and UUGGGHHHH! You gain more experience and learn what the world is really like today. Find a good friend to confide in. A journal really helped me. Now I look back on my problems then and laugh. Life experience is what a lot of places look for, and unfortunately that coincides with age. Don't worry, you're almost there!! Just try to enjoy the journey!!

The difference is very distictive. If you were a smart mature adult, I wouldn't be able to tell that you are a spoiled teenager whining about your rights and your opinions. Stay in school and some day your opinions will matter without you trying to make them matter. But until you mature, you have nothing to say.

Maturity is based on, how you act, how respocible you are, what your reaction is in certain sittuations. Most people base maturity on age bc the older you become the more experience you have and the wiser you become. You start to see things differently as you get older.

maturity is determined when the cells in your body achieve "quiescence" or a state of stability when they are no longer growing.

Different parts of your body mature at different rates. That's why you get frustrated. Your body has matured faster than your mind.

You have the body of an adult - but the brain of a kid. That's why you have to do the dishes. Just do it.

Maturity:
The ability to respond not react.
Being accountable for your actions.
Realizing that the things you cannot control are just that.
The ability to make more accurate decisions.
Understanding that wisdom trumps knowledge.
