I watch Pinks (on the Speed channel) a lot, and I noticed that they pour something in front of the cars before they spin their tires and race. What is this stuff? Is it just water, or is it some kind of special substance?

Most of the time its water just to make the tires spin easier to make them warm up. Its especially useful for cars with drag radials and slicks to heat them up and clean them. This provides the best traction.

VHT traction compound is used to make the car launch so u wouldn't use it to burn out with. instead u would spray it right where the car would start from.

they're doing a 'burnout'. The friction between the pavement and tire motives the rubber of the tire to start up heating which makes it melt and smoke the longer they spin. Burnouts make the tires very sticky and delivers better traction (ie better friction) to the motorized vehicle. many of the drivers on Pinks use racing tires (slicks) which have distinct chemical recipes that artwork better even as warm than do street tires.

It's just garden hose-variety H20. It makes it easier to break the tires loose. Racers do this to make the tires warm and gooey to improve traction.

It's a substance to help the tires get a better grip on the asphalt

its bleach. find a racer. tell him to take you to the track. you will smell the bleach. the combination of bleach and high octane fuel will make your eyes water. the sound is incredible.
