A black man. USA history has always tended to empower males before females no matter what color. IE, black men received the right to vote before women did in 1917.

Sen. Bill Frist? He's not black or a woman.
Seriously, my gut says a black man. Women can be good leaders (i.e. Margaret Thatcher), but men, in general, are more natural leaders. All things being equal (at least as many as can be equal) a man inspires more confidence than a woman. In other words, a female candidate would have to be exceptionally better than an average male candidate to have a chance. I doubt Hillary has what it takes....and it's hard to think of a woman that does. On the other hand, I can think of several black men that would have a good to great chance (Colin Powell would be president now if he'd wanted to be, Barak Obama, Michael Steele).

Right now it looks like a white women will be elected President first. There aren't any black men who are ready to become President yet, while white women have Hilary Clinton Barrack Obama is a bit too young, but he's my guess for the first black President.

My friends and I talk about this all the time. I've always thought a black man, and that would have been my answer up until this past year. Now I strongly believe a woman (white) will be first, because of Hilary Clinton. Either way, it shows growth for our nation and society.

I'm white and would vote for either Condoleeza Rice or Coleman
Powel. Both probably wouldn't run but I think both are extremely
qualified and I would love to see a Minority as president. Be it
a woman of any color or a black , or hispanic, or mong etc. Man.
However I do not know of any good candidates other than the
two I spoke of.

A white (vice president) woman will be president first, -after the president dies in office, but a black man will be elected first.

A white woman. I was talking to a friend of mine saturday (over many red bull and jagers) and I want Obama to run, and she informed me that he would get killed. There are to many people who hate blacks still to let him become president. As sad as I was when I heard that, I have to agree. People are to hatefilled. Women, even if bigots see women as lesser, they don't see women as evil, scary, ridiculous. Hell, I'm sure even the most mysognistic man would feel like others in her cabniet would make sure she did what they told her.

:(
Obama for 08...but..with lots of protection.
